The Siemens 6AV6542-0AB15-1AX0 is the SIMATIC MP270 Multi Panel with 10" TFT display, in an early release. The MP270 is the multifunctional panel of the first Multi Panel generation: it runs the operating screens from ProTool or WinCC flexible under Windows CE and also offers room for options such as Soft PLC or recipe and archive functions; it couples to S7 controllers via MPI, PROFIBUS DP or Ethernet and is mounted in the door of the operator cabinet. Siemens reports this type as no longer available and discontinued it on 1 April 2012; Siemens names the 6AV6542-0AD15-2AX0 as successor. When replacing, mount the panel in the same cut-out, carry over the 24 V DC supply and the interface cables, load the project into the panel again and set the MPI, DP or IP address; when moving to the successor, migrate the project to the matching configuration software and change the device type.

A screen that keeps getting darker or is only readable with a torch has a worn backlight; on older panels (OP, TP, MP) that is a CCFL tube, on newer ones LEDs.
