The Siemens 6SE7021-0EA61 is the SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES Vector Control compact unit of 4 kW. It is a complete frequency converter with mains rectifier for 3 AC 380 to 480 V at 50/60 Hz, with 10.2 A rated output current and degree of protection IP20. The Vector Control version controls induction motors with field-oriented control for accurate torque and speed, with or without encoder. Dimensions 10.2 x 43.2 x 35.6 cm. Siemens lists this type as a spare part and discontinued it on 30 September 2020; no successor is specified. The MASTERDRIVES VC sits in extruders, lifts, cranes and process plants from the MASTERDRIVES era; when replacing, take over the wired terminal strips and option boards (CUVC, communication, encoder) and reload the parameter set from the old unit or from DriveMonitor.

Faults and fixes 6SE7021-0EA61
Problems with 6SE7021-0EA61: F and A messages on the PMU
MASTERDRIVES and SIMOVERT show faults as an F number and warnings as an A number on the PMU or OP1S. Note the number and the load at that moment; the most common groups are DC-link voltage (under- or overvoltage), overcurrent, overtemperature and encoder faults. On units that have stood still for long, an unformed DC link is a known cause of a trip shortly after power-up.
What do I check when replacing a 6SE7021-0EA61?
Read out the parameter set (DriveMonitor or OP1S) and note the option boards (CBP, SBP, T100) and their slots; they move to the replacement. Check rating, voltage and the software version of the CU board against the parameter set. Reform the DC link before the first power-up if the unit has not been energised for more than a year.
Has the manufacturer discontinued the 6SE7021-0EA61, and what is the successor?
Siemens announced on 19 November 2010 the phase-out of the whole SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES family: devices, cabinets, options and spare parts with the order numbers 6SE70, 6SE71, 6SY7 and 6SX7 (product note 44011534); the Vector Control units above 200 kW were cancelled on 1 October 2011, with migration to SINAMICS (54061207, 20 September 2011). Siemens' successor is SINAMICS, which Van Haelen supplies too. If the installation keeps running, Van Haelen supplies the 6SE7021-0EA61 refurbished and tested, with a 24-month warranty, and exchanges or repairs your own unit; a fault then does not force a conversion.
Fault not fixed: replace, exchange or repair the 6SE7021-0EA61?
Replacing from stock is the fastest route when a machine is down. Van Haelen supplies the 6SE7021-0EA61 refurbished (tested, with a test report per serial number) or new in factory packaging, with a 24-month warranty. The current lead time is shown with the condition on this page. Prefer an exchange: you get a refurbished unit straight away and return the faulty one within 14 days. Repairing your own unit is also possible: diagnosis, then a fixed price.
What information should I send for a quick diagnosis?
A photo of the rating plate (order number, product version, firmware), the exact fault code or LED state, when the fault occurs (at power-up, on enable, under load) and what you have already tried. For PLCs an export of the diagnostic buffer, for drives the parameter set. With that we can usually say the same day whether replacing, exchanging or repairing is best.
