The Siemens 6SE7090-0XX84-0FF5 is the communication board CBP2 (Communication Board PROFIBUS) for SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES Motion Control and Vector Control. The board plugs into an option slot of the control board and connects the MASTERDRIVES unit to the controller as a PROFIBUS DP slave, which sends control word and setpoints via the bus and reads back status word, actual values and faults; it ships without operating instructions. Dimensions 10.2 x 2.5 x 10.2 cm. This is the successor of the 6SE7090-0XX84-0FF0. Siemens lists the type as a spare part and discontinued it on 30 September 2020; no successor is specified. When replacing, plug the board into the same slot of the control board, take over the PROFIBUS connector with the terminating resistor in the same position and check the bus address and the telegram selection (PPO type) in the parameters of the unit; the controller then recognises the board as before.

Note the number and the load at that moment; the most common groups are DC-link voltage (under- or overvoltage), overcurrent, overtemperature and encoder faults.
