Also written as: 6SE9 210-7BA40, 6SE92107BA40
The Siemens 6SE9210-7BA40 is the MICROMASTER MM12, a frequency inverter with built-in class A filter for 1 AC 208-240 V ±10 % at 50/60 Hz. It delivers 0.12 kW at constant torque with overload 150 % for 60 s; dimensions 175 x 73 x 141 mm, degree of protection IP20 and ambient temperature 0-50 °C. The first-generation MICROMASTER is the compact inverter for small three-phase motors on pumps, fans and conveyors, operated via the front panel, the control terminals or the serial USS interface; the built-in class A filter limits line interference. Siemens reports this type as no longer available and discontinued it on 1 October 2014; no successor is specified. When replacing, switch the inverter off and let the DC link discharge, connect the wiring to the same terminals, enter the motor data and parameters and test-run the drive at low frequency; the versions with other power ratings and supply voltages have different order numbers.

Faults and fixes 6SE9210-7BA40
Problems with 6SE9210-7BA40: overcurrent, overvoltage or overtemperature
On frequency converters and servo amplifiers three fault groups are the most common. Overcurrent: short circuit or earth fault in motor or cable, too short a ramp or wrong motor data; if the fault returns with no motor, the output stage is defective. DC-link overvoltage: decelerating too fast without a braking resistor. Overtemperature: a clogged heat sink or a fan that no longer turns. Always note the fault code and the moment.
What do I check when replacing a 6SE9210-7BA40?
Keep the parameter set of the old unit; it makes setting up the replacement quick. Check rating, supply voltage, frame and option boards, and whether the firmware version matches the parameter set. After long storage the DC-link capacitors should be reformed.
Fault not fixed: replace, exchange or repair the 6SE9210-7BA40?
Replacing from stock is the fastest route when a machine is down. Van Haelen supplies the 6SE9210-7BA40 refurbished (tested, with a test report per serial number) or new in factory packaging, with a 24-month warranty. The current lead time is shown with the condition on this page. Prefer an exchange: you get a refurbished unit straight away and return the faulty one within 14 days. Repairing your own unit is also possible: diagnosis, then a fixed price.
What information should I send for a quick diagnosis?
A photo of the rating plate (order number, product version, firmware), the exact fault code or LED state, when the fault occurs (at power-up, on enable, under load) and what you have already tried. For PLCs an export of the diagnostic buffer, for drives the parameter set. With that we can usually say the same day whether replacing, exchanging or repairing is best.
