The Siemens 6SL3111-4VE21-6EA0 is the SINAMICS S120 Combi Power Module of 16 kW, fed from 400 V 3 AC. It has four motor outputs of 400 V 3 AC: one of 24 A (main spindle) and three of 9 A (feed axes), in combi format with external air cooling and support of the extended Safety Integrated functions. The Combi module unites infeed and four axis drives in one housing and is meant for compact lathes and milling machines with SINUMERIK, where together with the NCU and the motors it forms the complete drive group. Dimensions 49.5 x 35.6 x 30 cm. Siemens lists this type as a spare part and discontinued it on 14 November 2017; no successor is specified. When replacing, move the mains, motor and encoder cables and the DRIVE-CLiQ cables one to one, renew the seal of the cabinet cut-out for the heat sink, let the SINUMERIK identify the module again and, when Safety Integrated is used, repeat the acceptance test.

Problems with 6SL3111-4VE21-6EA0: F30001, F30002 or F30003
On SINAMICS the F30xxx messages are faults of the power unit. F30001 is overcurrent (short circuit or earth fault in motor or cable, too short an acceleration ramp, wrong motor data), F30002 DC-link overvoltage (too short a deceleration ramp without braking resistor, regenerative operation), F30003 undervoltage (mains gone or sagging, precharging failed). If F30001 returns with the motor disconnected, the power unit itself is defective.
6SL3111-4VE21-6EA0: F30004, F30005 or A05000, the drive runs hot
F30004 is heat sink overtemperature, F30005 thermal overload (I²t) of the power unit, A05000 the warning that precedes it. Clean the heat sink and the fan, check the airflow and cabinet temperature and whether the load matches the rating. A fan that no longer reaches speed is the most common cause on older units.

F30021 reports an earth fault on the motor side: measure the insulation of motor and motor cable (megger) before suspecting the drive. F07900 means the motor does not turn while torque is demanded: mechanical blockage, brake not released or wrong motor data. Neither fault is often caused by the drive itself.
