Faults and fixes EMT3120A
Problems with EMT3120A: screen dark or backlight weak
A screen that keeps getting darker or is only readable with a torch has a worn backlight; on older panels (OP, TP, MP) that is a CCFL tube, on newer ones LEDs. A screen that stays off while the panel still communicates points to the backlight supply or inverter. Both are replaced in a refurbishment; a refurbished panel usually costs less than a single repair plus the downtime.
EMT3120A: touch does not respond or responds in the wrong spot
If the touch screen responds offset, recalibrate it first (Control Panel or Loader, touch calibration). Dead zones, ghost touches or a corner that no longer responds are a worn touch foil; that is replaced in a refurbishment. On key panels (OP, keypad) worn membrane keys are the equivalent.
EMT3120A starts in the Loader or shows no project
If the panel starts in the Loader (Transfer, Start, Control Panel) without opening the project, the project is no longer present or is corrupted. Download it again from WinCC flexible, WinCC or TIA Portal, or restore a backup with ProSave. Without the project file this cannot be recovered: always keep a backup of every panel in the installation.
EMT3120A: #### in the fields or connection to the PLC lost
Hashes in the fields mean the panel does not get its tags from the PLC. Check the connection settings (PROFIBUS address and baud rate, or IP address and rack/slot), the cable and whether the PLC is in RUN. After replacing the panel the same connection settings must be in the project and the project's runtime version must match the panel type.
