Faults and fixes EVS9325-EI
EVS9325-EI (Lenze 9300 Servo PLC): green and red LED, what do they mean?
Two LEDs on the front show the controller status (Lenze, Manual 9300 Servo PLC, EN 5.0, 10/2010, 3.5.6). Green on, red off: controller enabled, no fault. Green blinking, red off: controller inhibit or switch-on inhibit; check C0183 or C0168/1. Green off, red blinking: FAIL; the fault is in C0168/1. Green on, red blinking: warning or FAIL-QSP, also in C0168/1. The 9371BB keypad shows RDY (PLC ready for operation, the controllers can be inhibited), IMP (pulses at the power stage inhibited), Imax (maximum current reached), Mmax (maximum torque reached) or Fail (fault through TRIP, message, FAIL-QSP or warning) (3.5.7). Via LECOM the status word C0150 gives the same state bit-coded: bits 8 to 11 form the controller status, bit 13 is warning, bit 14 message (3.5.8).
EVS9325-EI: TRIP, message, warning or FAIL-QSP, and how do I reset?
The fault memory C0168/x stores the number of the system error message with an offset for the response: 0xxx TRIP, 1xxx message, 2xxx warning, 3xxx FAIL-QSP; C0168/1 = 2061, for example, is the communication error CE0 as a warning (3.5). On a TRIP the outputs U, V and W are switched to high resistance and the drive coasts without control; a message resets itself once the cause is gone and the drive then restarts automatically; on a warning the drive runs on in a controlled manner; on FAIL-QSP it decelerates to standstill along the QSP ramp (C0105) (3.5.2). A TRIP or FAIL-QSP needs an acknowledgement, and only once the source is no longer active: in GDC in the 9300 diagnostics dialog with History buffer reset, on the 9371BB keypad with STOP and then RUN to re-enable the PLC, with C0043 = 0, via control word C0135 bit 11, via AIF1_wDctrlCtrl or CAN1_wDctrlCtrl, or via the system variable DCTRL_vTripReset_b (3.5.3). The memory has 8 locations: the active fault and the 7 previous ones, with number and response (C0168/x), the time since power-on of the PLC (C0169/x) and how often the fault occurred in succession (C0170/x); it is cleared with C0167 = 1, only without an active fault (3.5.5).
EVS9325-EI: OC1, OC2, OC5, OU, LU, OH or OH3 on the display
From the table of causes and remedies (Lenze, Manual 9300 Servo PLC, EN 5.0, 10/2010, 3.5.4): OC1 (0011) short circuit of the motor cable, or excessive capacitive charging current in that cable: find the short circuit, check the motor cable or use a shorter cable of lower capacitance. OC2 (0012) earth fault: one of the motor phases has earth contact. OC5 (0015) I x t overload through frequent and too long acceleration with overcurrent, or a continuous load above 1.05 x Irx: check the drive dimensioning. OC6 (0016) I2 x t overload of the motor (C0120). OU (1020) overvoltage in the DC bus: the braking energy is too high, the DC-bus voltage is above the value in C0173; use a braking unit or regenerative module and check the brake resistor. LU (x030) undervoltage in the DC bus: check the mains voltage and the power supply module. LP1 (x032) motor phase failure: check motor and cable. OH (0050) heatsink hotter than +90 °C: ambient temperature above +40 °C or +50 °C, a very dirty heatsink or a wrong mounting position. OH3 (x053) motor temperature above +150 °C via resolver or encoder: thermally overloaded motor, or no PTC or temperature contact connected. OH4 (x054) heatsink hotter than the threshold in C0122. The leading x is the response: 0 = TRIP, 1 = message, 2 = warning, 3 = FAIL-QSP.
EVS9325-EI: No Program, overrun Task, float, noT-Fkt Credit or Unallowed Lib
These messages come from the PLC part (Lenze, Manual 9300 Servo PLC, EN 5.0, 10/2010, 3.5.4). No Program (0230): no PLC program loaded; load the program with the Drive PLC Developer Studio (DDS). overrun Task1 to Task8 (0201 to 0208) and overrun Cyc.-T (0219): a task takes longer than the monitoring time set; adjust the runtime or the monitoring time, find the cause with the task monitor and move time-critical program parts to a slower task. float Sys-T (0209), float Cycl.-T (0210) and float Task1 to Task8 (0211 to 0218): an error in a real calculation, for example a division by 0; check the calculations in the program code. noT-Fkt Credit (0220): not enough technology units, because a program with technology functions was loaded into a controller without those units; use the technology variant of the controller (C2115 shows the number of technology units, C2116 the pin code for activation). Unallowed Lib (0231): the program calls a library function this controller does not support, for example because the hardware is missing. NoCam Data (0232): no motion profiles (cam data) in the memory; attach the cam data to the project via the DDS CAM support and reload the program. PR1 (0072) checksum error in parameter set 1: the Lenze setting is loaded automatically; set the parameters again, store them with C0003 = 1 and, on PLC devices, check the use of pointers. PEr (0074) program error: send the parameter set with a description to Lenze. After PEr, PI (0079) or 2.Flash Err (x250) de-energise the device completely: 24 V supply off and DC bus discharged.
What do I check when replacing a EVS9325-EI?
Replace a 9300 Servo PLC with the same type number (it determines the power) and the same letter: the manual applies to the EVS93XX-xI and the EVS93XX-xT from hardware version 7A and software version 8.0, and a program with technology functions only runs on a controller with technology units (otherwise noT-Fkt Credit, 0220, follows). The variant code at the end of the type number should be the same as on the nameplate of the old device; the nameplate key in the system manual of the 9300 servo inverter knows, besides standard, only V003 (cold plate), V004 (safe standstill), V100 (IT mains) and V104 (both); other codes are not in it. The PLC program is not part of the parameter set: the program memory (ROM, 384 kbytes) is rewritten with every download, the application data in FLASH (15 segments of 64 kbytes, cam data included) are preserved across downloads and firmware updates, the retain memory (160 bytes) returns to its initialisation value with every download and the persistent memory (32 bytes) stays (3.3). So keep the DDS project with the program and save parameter set 1 of the old device with C0003 = 1; after the replacement load the program first, then the parameters. A parameter set from a higher-power controller gives PI (0079), a different operating system software PR0 (0075): then store the Lenze setting with C0003 = 1. The software version is in C0099 (operating system) and C0200 (S/W Id).
Fault not fixed: replace, exchange or repair the EVS9325-EI?
Replacing from stock is the fastest route when a machine is down. Van Haelen supplies the EVS9325-EI refurbished (tested, with a test report per serial number) or new in factory packaging, with a 24-month warranty. The current lead time is shown with the condition on this page. Prefer an exchange: you get a refurbished unit straight away and return the faulty one within 14 days. Repairing your own unit is also possible: diagnosis, then a fixed price.
What information should I send for a quick diagnosis?
A photo of the rating plate (order number, product version, firmware), the exact fault code or LED state, when the fault occurs (at power-up, on enable, under load) and what you have already tried. For PLCs an export of the diagnostic buffer, for drives the parameter set. With that we can usually say the same day whether replacing, exchanging or repairing is best.
Frequently asked questions
What does refurbished mean?
Cleaned, inspected, aged or critical components replaced and tested to our test protocol for this product family. You get a 24-month warranty, a test report and a serial number label.
Can I exchange or repair my faulty unit?
