Faults and fixes EVS9332-ESV004
EVS9332-ESV004 (Lenze 9300): red or green LED flashing, what does it mean?
Two LEDs show the state (Lenze, System Manual 9300 Servo inverter, EDSVS9332S, 9.2.1). Red off, green on: controller enabled. Red and green on: mains switched on, automatic start inhibited. Red off, green blinking slowly: controller inhibited. Red blinking quickly, green off: undervoltage or overvoltage. Red blinking slowly, green off: active fault. The XT keypad then shows XXX-TRIP with the fault from C0168/1. If the controller stays inhibited, the keypad shows the source (7.2.8): STP1 is terminal X5/28, STP3 the operating module or LECOM, STP4 INTERBUS or PROFIBUS-DP, STP5 the system bus (CAN) and STP6 code C0040.
EVS9332-ESV004: fault message OC1, OC2, OU, LU or LP1
From the Lenze fault table (System Manual 9300 Servo inverter, EDSVS9332S, 9.3.1): OC1 (0011) short circuit of the motor cable, or excessive capacitive charging current in that cable: find the short circuit, check the motor cable or use a shorter cable of lower capacitance. OC2 (0012) earth fault: one of the motor phases has earth contact. OU (1020) overvoltage in the DC bus: the braking energy is too high (voltage above the value in C0173); use a braking unit or regenerative module and check the dimensioning of the brake resistance. LU (1030) undervoltage in the DC bus: check mains voltage and supply cable. LP1 (x032) failure of a current-carrying motor phase: check motor and motor cable; a current limit set too low (C0599) also gives LP1. OC5 (0015) is an I x t overload: check the drive dimensioning. In the number, x stands for 0 = TRIP, 1 = message, 2 = warning.
EVS9332-ESV004: OH, OH3, Sd2 or CCr on the display
OH (0050): heatsink hotter than +90 °C, due to an ambient temperature above +40 °C or +50 °C, a very dirty heatsink or a wrong mounting position; let the module cool down, improve the ventilation and clean the heatsink. OH3 (x053): motor temperature above +150 °C, measured via resolver or encoder: the motor is thermally overloaded, or no PTC or thermal contact is connected. Sd2 (x082): resolver error at X7, the resolver cable is interrupted; check cable and resolver. CCr (0071): system failure due to strong interference on the control cables or ground or earth loops; shield the control cables, check wiring and PE connection, and then de-energise the controller completely (disconnect the 24 V supply, discharge the DC bus). For H05 (internal fault, memory) and H07 (incorrect power stage detected at initialisation) Lenze refers to its service. Source: Lenze, System Manual 9300 Servo inverter, EDSVS9332S, 9.3.1.
EVS9332-ESV004: how do I reset a TRIP, and where do I see earlier faults?
A TRIP can only be reset once its cause is gone: on the XT EMZ9371 BC keypad with STOP and then RUN to re-enable the controller, with C0043 = 0, or via control word C0135 bit 11, via AIF or via the system bus (CAN). Note: a message (not a TRIP) is cancelled automatically once the fault is gone, and the drive then restarts automatically. The history buffer keeps the last 8 faults in the order they occurred (keypad: Diagnostic menu, History; the active fault is in C0168/1). EVS9332-ESV004 (V004, safe standstill): motor does not start, or the mains contactor drops out
With variant V004 an integrated safety relay (KSR) interrupts the supply of the optocouplers that pass the pulses to the IGBTs. The relay is on the 4-pole plug X11: +24 V DC on terminal 34 (19.5 to 36 V), terminal 33 as reference, which must be connected to the PE system, and K31-K32 as feedback contact. Without these 24 V the external pulse inhibit stays active and the motor cannot start. Lenze: enable the controller at least 50 ms after KSR has switched, and do not set the quick stop time (C0105) too short, or a TRIP may follow and the drive coasts without control. Test the function after the first commissioning, after work on the wiring and after replacing a component: in the Lenze example circuit the mains contactor drops out when you interrupt K31-K32. Safe standstill is not an emergency off: motor and controller are not isolated. Source: Lenze, EDB9300 V004 (3.0).
What do I check when replacing a EVS9332-ESV004?
Keep the parameter set of the old controller (XT keypad, Load/Store menu, or Global Drive Control) and choose the same type number: it determines the power. Lenze: if you transfer a parameter set from a higher-power to a lower-power controller, PI (0079) follows. After an update of the operating system software the controller reports PR0 (0075): store the Lenze setting with C0003 = 1. PR1 (0072) is a checksum error in parameter set 1, after which the Lenze setting has been loaded automatically: set the parameters again and store them with C0003 = 1. After PR0 and after CCr Lenze requires the controller to be de-energised completely (disconnect the 24 V supply, discharge the DC bus). Fault not fixed: replace, exchange or repair the EVS9332-ESV004?
Replacing from stock is the fastest route when a machine is down. Van Haelen supplies the EVS9332-ESV004 refurbished (tested, with a test report per serial number) or new in factory packaging, with a 24-month warranty. The current lead time is shown with the condition on this page. Prefer an exchange: you get a refurbished unit straight away and return the faulty one within 14 days. Repairing your own unit is also possible: diagnosis, then a fixed price.
What information should I send for a quick diagnosis?
A photo of the rating plate (order number, product version, firmware), the exact fault code or LED state, when the fault occurs (at power-up, on enable, under load) and what you have already tried. For PLCs an export of the diagnostic buffer, for drives the parameter set. With that we can usually say the same day whether replacing, exchanging or repairing is best.
