Faults and fixes TMSES4
Problems with TMSES4: red SF LED on the module
An SF LED on a signal module means a channel or module diagnostic: missing load voltage (L+ 24 V not connected or a fuse), wire break on inputs with wire-break monitoring, a short circuit on an output, or wrong parameterisation. The CPU's diagnostic buffer names channel and cause. A module that keeps reporting SF after the cause is removed is usually defective itself.
TMSES4: one channel has stopped working or an output sticks
One dead channel with the rest working normally points to a damaged input or output stage, often from overvoltage, a short circuit or an inductive load without a flyback diode. Swap the wiring to a free channel to separate the module from the installation. If the channel is defective, replace the module; repairing single channels is rarely worthwhile.
What do I check when replacing a TMSES4?
The same order number with the same or a higher product version (issue) fits without changing the configuration. Carry over the front connector with its wiring, put the module in the same slot and check the diagnostic buffer after power-up. On modules with parameterisation (analogue: measuring range, range selectors on the side) set the range modules to the same position.
Fault not fixed: replace, exchange or repair the TMSES4?
Replacing from stock is the fastest route when a machine is down. Van Haelen supplies the TMSES4 new in factory packaging, with a 24-month warranty. The current lead time is shown with the condition on this page. Prefer an exchange: you get a refurbished unit straight away and return the faulty one within 14 days. Repairing your own unit is also possible: diagnosis, then a fixed price.
What information should I send for a quick diagnosis?
A photo of the rating plate (order number, product version, firmware), the exact fault code or LED state, when the fault occurs (at power-up, on enable, under load) and what you have already tried. For PLCs an export of the diagnostic buffer, for drives the parameter set. With that we can usually say the same day whether replacing, exchanging or repairing is best.
